In the run-up of their exhibition at the K21, Raqs Media Collective answered three questions in their very own manner for #32:

On the occasion of the display window project and the inauguration of the artist's room by Peter Kogler, on view at the same time at the K21, #32 met with the artist for an exchange.

An Interview for #32

Matthias Wollgast makes photographs without a camera, paints without any commitment to painting, and works conceptually, but doesn't care to be referred to as a conceptual artist.

For #32, Arnika Fürgut asked him three questions.

#32 met with Kris Martin during the installation of the exhibition “Beneath the Ground – from Kafka to Kippenberger.” For the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, the Belgian artist is not only exhibiting a new installation, but also making available an edition based on his work, which the Kunstsammlung is offering for sale. He talks about his new piece, books and the best places "beneath the earth" of Ghent, his hometown.

In her free time, Susan Philipsz enjoys listening to David Bowie, Björk, and the US-American singer Bonny Prince Billy. Her artistic work, however, features pieces of classical music, her own singing, or the delicate sound of individual stringed instruments. In 2010, she received the Turner Prize for her sound art projects – until April 6, 2014 her project The Missing String will be on view in the bel etage of the K21 Ständehaus.

#32 met with Susan Philipsz in the exhibition.

Earlier, artists had to live in Paris, New York, London, or Berlin in order to really count. Today (thanks to the Internet and rapid travel options, among other things), they can live in the locations best-suited to their work and their chosen lifestyles. For Roman Ondák (* 1966), for example, that place is Bratislava.

Found among the works of Thomas Schütte (born in 1954) have always been works taking the form of models. Recently, he was able to realize a number of these as real works of architecture on a 1:1 scale. One of them stands in the Tyrol. The design goes back to a model bearing the title “Holiday Home for Terrorists.”
