#32 meet up: Marion Ackermann and Olafur Eliasson

Artist Olafur Eliasson developed the project Dein Ausstellungsguide for Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen. The work is a fusion of large-scale installation and digital app. We met Marion Ackermann and Olafur Eliasson at their first tour through the exhbition. A filmed meet up for #32.

Marion Ackermann: Here, we seem to see a sun and a planet. Or is this interpretation too concrete? The blue circle that moves in space, and the yellow element that is filled in for a moment. Or is a reference to the cosmos not intended at all?

Olafur Eliasson: Yes… yes, you could see it like that, right? Actually, that's not so bad. It's kind of amusing. It's just a small plastic lens, a piece of glass, relatively unspectacular in assembly. And yet these reflections are so terrific. That's how it started with me in the studio, this prismatic line here, which stands still and then begins to move very slowly. I think it's really terrific. The fact that it slowly 'reads' the room, scans it, so to speak, became a theme. A space that is that so difficult to understand – an incredibly large room – is virtually scanned, very slowly.
